Thanks for a great summer!

Well, I've tried to remember everything, and my Remembrall doesn't seem to be going cloudy anymore, but I'm sure there's one or two things I will have left behind at summer camp! Thankfully it's not too much longer before next term, and I think Mum and Grandfather are going to enjoy having me home for a couple of weeks before I head back to school. It's been fun meeting all new friends and having the best camp counselor around! Countdown to term is ON!

A Letter Home

Dear Mum & Grandfather,

This summer has been wonderful at summer camp. I've met so many great people and learned so many new things from everyone. Last week I swam right out to the middle of the lake, and didn't get scared about the deep water one bit. My camp counsellor Hermione is great fun, and my cabinmates sure know how to stay up late and sleep in! I'm sorry I didn't write earlier, but it's just been so busy with all the games and getting to know the witches and wizards in the other cabins I haven't had a chance. How is everyone back home? I hope the weather has been nice for you all.

Well, just a few more weeks and I will be home before getting back to school again. I can't wait to show you all I learned at camp!
Love,
Sal

It's here, it's HERE, IT'S HERE!!!!!

My package came from my good friend Lizzie Wychwood! My eyes were greeted by this beautiful bag made especially for me as part of my DADA kit. You can see the whole kit below. (Click to embiggen.)

A lovely note from Lizzie, a pattern for Protego socks (not sure where she got the pattern), a booklet of HP cross-stitch patterns, lovely 2.5mm Harmony circular needles for the sock pattern, lovely purple yarn (one of my fave colours--there was definitely a theme!), Quidditch Through the Ages, Minstrels (fave British chocolate candy), an envelope from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and lots of lovely little bits and pieces which you can see better below!

The two purple boxes contained a Time Turner and a necklace with a sea turtle charm (my patronus). The WWW contained a hat and mitt set that are currently under the Reducio charm but which I will enlarge with the Engorgio charm as soon as I have a chance. A lovely sea turtle keychain that will make it onto my keys in no time flat! The two purple lacy bags contained wonderful sea turtle stitchmarkers and heart charms for future projects.

(There are actually 5 stitchmarkers but two of them immediately made their way to the Big Bad Baby Blanket I'm making! I can't help but enjoy them every time I get to the border of the blanket.)

I love it all, Lizzie!!! I keep petting my Protego bag and checking to make sure it's still here and still real. This was a great first swap, and I feel so lucky Lizzie was my spoiler!

Weekly update

So, we didn't do so hot on the potions-guessing, but this summer's been superfun with all my cabinmates. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make the game on Saturday, but hopefully my cabinmates can pick up the slack! I'm off on vacation in a couple of weeks and am very excited. Hopefully my spoiler's package should be here soon!

Summer Camp Games #5, Pt. 1

Whew! After buckling under the pressure of the egg hunt last week (didn't find more than that one egg! Well, I did, but not before anyone else) , I was ready to tackle camp game 5 this week with vigour. Almost got turned around by a Confundus charm, but managed to dodge it just in time. Here are my answers:
1: ANIMAGUS
2: DAILY PROPHET
3: BOWTRUCKLE
4: EXTENDABLE EAR
5: RADISH EARRINGS
6: FORBIDDEN FOREST
7: GOLDEN CHERUB
8: THESTRAL
9: HIGH INQUISITOR
10: EDUCATIONAL DECREE

Will get to work on Pt. 2 in the next day or so...

I found an egg! And helped a fellow cabinmate fix her find. This whole egg search thing has been very exciting, and it's great to see all my fellow campers get involved. I'm hoping our cabin does a lot better this game, and pulls together with some great teamwork!

Am finishing up some projects. Got the womb and the sox done, but will have to frog the sock back enough to do the toe again because it's about an inch shorter than the other sock (perhaps the reason for 2-at-a-time sox?) and the tension is way tighter around the foot. Perhaps I was stressed? (Oh yeah, I was actually...) In other good news, managed to get the scarf I was working on done to the point of casting off, just while watching some episodes of Two and a Half Men last night! It was on big needles (12mm) with a really quick four row pattern, but I'm so proud of myself! I don't think I've completed anything that fast. Helps that I've been focused on knitting lately and have had a fair amount of time.

Now I'm hoping to move on to another pair of socks, toe-up this time, and am praying that I can make them match in size!

Projectbusting this weekend!

So I am house-sitting for friends in July, away from my sweetie, and have this evening and tomorrow totally free. Barring brilliant blinding sunshine that I couldn't resist (well, I still could), I will be working on finishing two projects and getting some decent progress on a third. This is D-Day for these projects because I keep saying they will get done and I get so close to finishing, and then something else happens! Now I have no reason to say no. It means I will avoid being online all weekend, but I know the inter-web won't miss me too much!
